The Project of Developing Co-generation

Since 1999, Bangkok Produces PLC, a subsidiary of Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) planned for Co-Generation Project in the area of its chicken further processing plant, Saraburi. The project was a pilot mission that the company invested for 190 million baht and aimed to improve a usage of energy to be more efficiency.

From its start operating of co-generation project, CPF’s energy expenses has decreased averagely 44 million baht (21% of previous energy cost) and the maintenance cost of equipments has reduced for 2 million each year. Efficiency in production has increased, which also supports environment savings as well as contribute to governmental policy in energy saving.

Therefore, CPF plan to develop 5 more co-generation projects which expected to invest 755 million baht. The first phrase of projects will include a co-generation project at chicken further processing plant in Nakhon Ratchasima and Min Buri which invest 380 million baht. These 2 locations can generate electricity 5 megawatt and stream 23 tonnes/hour. Constructing range time and machine installing is 18 month, and CPF looks ahead to start them by July 2009. Charoen Pokphand Food expected to reduce energy cost averagely 80 million baht when projects have completed.
