Nowadays, aquatic animals such as fishes have become a good source of protein for consumers while the number of them has decreased continuously. Thus, saving aquatic animals and well management is essential and in order to increase number of animals, restorations of water sources like dams, reservoirs, rivers, canals, swamps.
To enhance the number of aquatic animals, Department of Fisheries and Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) has cooperated and organized Saving Aquatic Animal Project in accordance to add up a quantity of laying area for fishes. Presently, 25 water sources are participated in project where floating baskets are floated in front of people’ houses locating along dams, rivers, reservoirs, and canals. Furthermore, fishes can be cooked as meal for people and about 2 months long; these fishes can be released to natural water sources.
This project is one of strategies that can boost the number of aquatic animals in natural water sources. In addition, people have received more knowledge on how to farm fishes and be a part of their community.
