Agriculture or farming is one of core occupations of Thai people. Skills in running their businesses or operating their farming have transferred from generation through generation. Thus, if our farmers have been educated with knowledge as well as know-how in technology, production process, and marketing, they will definitely obtain healthier livings.
According to CP Group Chairman Dhanin Chearavanont’s vision, he would like to support Thai farmers to have good occupations and better income. Charoen Pokphand Group by Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) has developing projects in Creating Jobs and Occupations for farmers since 1975 named “Contract Farming” into 2 models: guarantee the price and support animal farming. The first project was a support of broiler faming at Sriracha, Chonburi. At that time, there were 200 families participated in the project and later enlarge to other province nationwide. Recently, CPF obtains more than 10,000 farmers joining in contract farming projects which covers broilers, layers, and swine.
Farmers involve in the contract farming have to utilize their own land at maximum whereas CPF provides breeders, medicine, feed, vaccines, and also guarantee the price while market fluctuates. In addition, farmers will furnish with knowledge, know-how, advices, and needed technology from the company’s expert team. As a result, farmers who took part in the contract farming project will surely receive much better living and stability in their lives and families. Besides, Charoen Pokphand Foods sustains a same concept project to tabtim fish farmers which there are more than 5,000 families participating at present.
