Deputy PM joins CPF food truck project to hand out free meals

Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CPF) in collaboration with Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives handed over free meals to low-income people in Bangphlat District of Bangkok.

The event at Bangphlat District Office was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanavisit, CPF CEO Prasit Boondoungprasert, as well as Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives’ representative.

A food truck COVID-19 relief project called “Safe Food from the Heart to Community” is a joint effort between CPF and Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to help reduce burden on people who are financially impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr. Jurin praised CPF relief programs for the continuous support to people in this time of crisis.

Prior to the food truck project, Ministry of Commerce and CPF has launched a campaign to sell one million ready-to-eat meals at a special price of 20 baht each to alleviate Thai people’s cost of living.

“Safe Food from the Heart to Community project is a very creative solution to help people in need. The food truck has a symbolic meaning that delicious meals are coming to a neighborhood,” the Deputy PM said.

CPF CEO Prasit said the company has dispatched its food trucks to serve low-income neighborhoods of Bangkok. Today’s event was the 13th edition of the project.

He added that the truck can reheat 100 meals at once, making it possible to serve warm meals to a lot of people without making them to wait.

Besides six delicious ready-to-eat meals from CPF, its partners including, Osotspa and Mc Jeans brought drink from M Sport and fabric mask to give away to participants respectively.

The food truck project aims at delivering safe and delicious food to low-income people in six districts of Bangkok, including Bangkok Noi, Bangphlat, Huai Kwang, Bangkhunthian, Bang Bon, and Nong Khaem.
