Respecting human rights is highly important to the Company. We recognize that all human beings are equal in dignity and rights. We ensure that the way we operate is in highest compliance with relevant international laws, standards, codes of conduct and our own business principles. We are committed to managing human rights issues according to our Human Rights Policy as well as respecting and promoting the protection of human rights in our sphere of influence, including our supply chain.
As a leading agro-industrial and food conglomerate, we contribute to the promotion of human rights by, but not limited to, making nutritious food available and accessible, employing people with fairness, building capacity of our business partners in the supply chain and improving the quality of life of the surrounding communities.
We regularly monitor and assess risks and impacts on human rights across our business activities. For our business to succeed, it is important that we understand and manage our human rights risks. We, therefore, began to develop the Human Rights Due Diligence Process in 2016, which is cycled every three years. The Process comprises analyzing and assessing human rights risks, managing those risks, and continuously monitoring and reporting our performances, which covers all the business units in Thailand.
In 2019, the Company reviewed and conducted the Human Rights Due Diligence Process. The salient human rights issues assessment's result are as followed:
  • Working conditions;
  • Health and safety of employees;
  • Community health and safety;
  • Data privacy;
  • Use of illegal labour (i.e. child labour, forced labour and illegal migrant workers) in supply chain;
  • Sub-contractors & suppliers’ health and safety; and
  • Community safety & standard of living in supply chain
To ensure that these salient human rights issues are properly managed, the Company issued the Statement on Slavery and Human Trafficking, and continues to promote forced labour ending and fair treatment of migrant labour in the supply chain through communicating the Sustainable Sourcing Policy and Supplier Guiding Principle. We also provide trainings for our business partners, encourage critical suppliers to conduct a sustainability self-assessment, carry out sustainability audit on critical suppliers, and ensure that we source our key agricultural raw materials from responsible sources.
Meanwhile, our Occupational Health and Safety Policy lays out our commitment to promoting health and safety among our employees in compliance with laws and regulations so that our employees and contractors can work happily and safely.
