CPF releases a million Silver barb (Ta Pien)

Department of Fisheries and Charoen Pokphand Foods PLC (CPF) and released a million Silver barb (Ta Pien) to Pa Sak Jolasid Dam in an attempt to restore the biodiversity. The scheme also aimed at creating more jobs for the local community.

The baby fish to be nursed in hatchery to increase the survival chance and distributed to Nong Ta Ming School, Khok Salung School and the local communities.

Nowadays, the amount of fish in Pa Sak Jolasid Dam has been decreasing. Department of Fisheries expects that the project will encourage the locals to preserve the natural resource and reduce illegal fishing. The Department also thanks CPF for supporting the project and educating the community on fish breeding and sustainable fishery methods.

Khok Salung school director, Mr. Chuchart Chantabarn, said the baby fish from the project will be fed in the school's pond and the mature fish will use for lunch to serve 412 students.

Mr. Paiboon Srichan, Vice-president at CPF said the Company recognizes the importance of aquatic resource in Pa Sak Jolasid Dam. The project is a part of CPF’s environmental conservation plan to reduce environmental footprint and protect biodiversity in accordance to “Balance of nature”, one of the Company’s three sustainability pillars.
