CPF insists to buy maize

Animal Feed Mills still need to buy maize from farmers particularly CP quotes buying price higher than by Commerce Ministry announcement due to the end of harvest season. 

 

Mr.Paisarn Kruawongvanich, Executive Vice President of Bangkok Produce Merchandiding Public Company Limited (BKP), a purchasing arm of maize of Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CPF), said feed mill industry still demands for maize. In addition, CPF also continuously purchases maize at its six feed meal plants. Farmers who sell maize with low moisture at Bangkok will gain higher Bt8 per kilogram. 

"CPF's feed mills still need maize from farmers as it capacity has not yet full," said Mr.Paisarn. 

Normally, main crop production of maize will be harvested during August to November, accounting for 70% of the country's total output. The remainder will come out during November to January. 

Mrs.Sasithorn Kruaduangkam, a farmer who grow maize in Lampang, said farmers in the North of Thailand start growing maize in June to July. They will harvest the production in December to January. Moreover, the will store the production in their barns and sell it during January and February.
