CP Foods highlights green revenue achievement 30% in 2020

Charoen Pokphand Food PCL (CP Foods) has stepped toward to increase green revenue to 30% this year reflecting the efficient use of resources to alleviate the impacts to environment, social and community through its goal “Green Business” in the future.



Ms. Kularb Kimsri, vice president - CP Foods’ Global Standard System Centre, said more than 770 of the company’s products, including livestock feedmeal, fresh chicken, tender chicken breast, fresh duck and frozen cooked duck, had been certified Carbon Reduction Label, Carbon Footprint Label in line with ISO 14067 from Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organizaton) or TGO and Waterfootprint according to ISO 14046 from the Federation of Thai Industries, leading the company’s green revenue reached 25% of its total sale in 2019.



This year, TGO also certified Carbon Reduction Label to CP Foods six chicken feedmeal fomulars, which help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emission by 77,500 tons CO2 equivalent last year equal to planting 1.28 million trees. CP Foods’ feedmeal has not focused only on animal nutritions but realize on GHG emission to cause global warming. Moreover, the company’s chili sauce and tomato sauce with eight products have been granted Carbon Footprint Label. The company has proceeded on activities through the environmental-friendly swine feed innovation to reduce nitrogen in swine manure by 20-30%, equivalent to a reduction of 90 tons of nitrous oxide emission. The product alone is equal a forestation of 3,600 rais and reduce GHG emission by 41,000 tons cabondioxide, to achieve its green revenue of 30% this year.



CP Foods has undertaken Circular Economy principle as the way to reduce impacts and wastes in its manufacturing lines. Moreover, it will also encourage the company to maximize benefit from the use of resources and reuse it efficiently. For instance, CP Foods has promoted renewable energy by installing solar rooftop at office buildings and manufacturing plants, solar farm and biogas in swine farm. In addition, more than 90% of recycled water from the water treatment process at shrimp farms has been used to refill shrimp ponds to reduce the use of natural water.



CP Foods strives to reduce GHG emissions per production unit through its target 25% in 2025 compared to the year 2015. The has strong commitment to proceed its target to create food security to meet with the needs of people, to alleviate impacts of environment and generate economic value to the company’s business through green production innovation for social sustainability./
