CP Foods listed in "Thailand Sustainability Investment" for 6th consecutive year

Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CP Foods) has been selected in the Thailand Sustainability Investment (THSI) list 2020 for sixth consecutive year, reflecting the company’s outstanding performance on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) dimensions.



Mr. Prasit Boondoungprasert, Chief Executive Officer at CP Foods, said being included in this prestigious sustainability index for six consecutive years, reflect the company’s business operations that are committed to social responsibility, environment and good governance. This will help the company to maintain competitiveness and deliver good returns in order to secure continuous business growth.



This sustainability list is also used for selecting constituents of SETTHSI Index, a benchmark that promotes investment in on sustainable stocks that engrain ESG aspects as a part of their operations.



He added that CP Foods has integrated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into sustainability practices based on the three pillars of sustainability strategy - “Food Security, Self-Sufficient Society and Balance of Nature”. 



In this year, the company has made multiple relief efforts for people who are affected by COVID-19 outbreak in Thailand and other 16 countries that the company invests. It also implemented stronger health and safety measures throughout its supply chain to ensure highest standard of food safety for both its employees and consumers. As a result, CP Foods can deliver safe and quality foods to consumers across the world.



124 listed companies were included in this year THSI. As of November 9, 2020, these firms had market value of THB 9.63 trillion, accounting for 67 percent of the combined SET and mai market capitalization.



THSI list is based on sustainability assessment questionnaires in 19 categories, covering criteria such as economic (including governance), social and environmental dimensions. Companies listed for THSI list must score at least 50 percent in each dimension and meet qualifications criteria, including report quality, net profit and shareholders' equity, passing SET/ mai listed companies' qualifications, and having no significant negative impact on ESG.
