CP Foods provides Fund for Elderly program for the 12 years in a row

Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CP Foods) continues to support vulnerable seniors in need nearby its operations through the "CPF Fund for Elderly" program, in the support of Thailand's transformation toward well-being aged society.

 

In 2022, Thailand is now entering “Aged society” with more than 20% of the population aged over 60 years old. Recognizing that many of them are disadvantage and struggle to make ends meet, CP Foods launched “CPF Fund for Elderly” initiative to provide a variety of supports to senior citizens living in poverty across the country, therefore propelling  Thailand to become  a quality aging society.

 

CPF Funds for the Elderly project intends to assist the elderly above the age of 55 who living within a 5-kilometer radius of the company’s farms and factories who are neglected, unaided, or impoverished. Under the scheme, CP Foods provides financial support for 2,000 Baht per person every month for a lifetime, in addition to foods, necessities, and a monthly visit. This program also promotes the appreciation model, alleviate social inequity, and improve the quality of life for the elderly

 

"For the previous four years, volunteers from the CPF Shrimp Hatchery in Trat Province have paid him a monthly visit," recalls one of the participants, Sa-ard Senakoworn, 79, whose face  was always filled with delight and smiling when the volunteers visited him. He added that a monthly allowance of 2,000 baht enable him to buy adequate food and medicine.

 

Sayad Kittiwut, who is 80 years old, is also pleased with the initiative. Volunteers from CP Foods have paid him a visit and given him a health check. "I'd want to thank everyone who comes to see me on a regular basis," he says. This has given delight to the elderly who lives alone."

 

The CPF Fund for the Elderly project is a relief effort under the company's three pillars of sustainability strategy, which are "Food Security, Self-Reliance Society, and Balance of Nature," to assist the elderly living in the vicinity of the Company's operations in living better lives.
