Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CP Foods) has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship by partnering with Lamphun Provincial authorities and local communities to tackle the pressing issues of forest fires and PM2.5 air pollution. The initiative aligns with the government’s national agenda to reduce open burning in forests and agricultural areas by 2025.
Mr. Wiwat Inthraiwong, Governor of Lamphun Province, recently chaired a high-level meeting with Mr. Ritthichai Phu-amorn, Senior Director of Northern Feed Business at CP Foods, along with CP Foods’ management team and key government officials, including Mr. Prakob Yodya, Mae Tha District Chief. The meeting focused on outlining a collaborative roadmap to prevent wildfires and reduce particulate pollution. The strategy includes strengthening risk communication, managing high-risk zones, and enforcing environmental regulations.
To support this goal, CP Foods has launched the “CPF Rak Nivet Project: Combating Forest Fires and PM2.5 Pollution” as a three-year pilot program (2025–2027) in Lamphun Province, where the company has operational facilities. The project emphasizes community engagement and integrated forest management.
As part of the initiative, CP Foods representatives conducted field assessments and held a series of participatory forums with five communities in Tha Pladuk Subdistrict. The discussions focused on identifying community needs, mapping wildfire risk areas, and creating local prevention strategies rooted in traditional knowledge. A community calendar was also developed to monitor key activities during the wildfire season.
In a parallel effort, CP Foods collaborated with seven additional communities in Tha Sop Sao Subdistrict to jointly develop village-specific action plans, reinforcing the company’s commitment to long-term environmental solutions.
CP Foods remains dedicated to supporting sustainable development and improving the quality of life for local communities through effective public-private partnerships. The company believes that collective action is key to achieving cleaner air, healthier ecosystems, and a better future for all.
