
CP Fresh Mart announced “Say No to Plastic Bag” campaign to encourage and reward consumers to use reusable fabric or paper bags instead of a single use plastic bags, starting from January 16, 2019.
The campaign is projected to reduce 3 million plastic bags annually, helping the company to achieve sustainable target to be plastic bag-free shops by 2022.
The project is a part collaboration between Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and retailers to reduce and ban single use plastic bag, which is currently an urgent environmental issue globally.
Mr. Chaiyuth Tipsuwanporn, Senior Vice President at CP Foods, said the at CP Fresh Mart shops nationwide aims at urging consumers to stop using plastic bags at CP Fresh Mart shops nationwide through promotional activities.
He added that consumers, who purchase over 200 baht from the shop, will be able to buy exclusive cool bags from CP Fresh mart at a special price from today to February 28, 2019. Other promotional campaigns will be announce later on.
“Every Wednesday will be CP Fresh Mart’s No Plastic Bag Day throughout 2019. The company also plan to extend this event later as we are ready to move toward being plastic bag-free shops in 2022.” Mr. Chaiyuth said.
In addition to this campaign, CP Fresh Mart will set up recycling drop-off points for plastic bottles to find sustainable way to build plastic waste free society. This initiative will start at 10 pilot branches in Bangkok Metropolitan area in February.
